About

Why this tool exists and what it's for — without invented history, awards, or hype.

The purpose

Test My Connection exists to answer one simple question: is your internet staying connected, or is it cutting out? It gives you a quick, understandable result the way a speed-test site gives you a number — but focused on stability and responsiveness instead of bandwidth.

It's meant to be useful when you're troubleshooting: after changing networks, moving closer to your router, restarting equipment, or trying to figure out whether a flaky video call is your connection or something else.

What makes it trustworthy

  • It measures real HTTPS response time to a real endpoint — never simulated readings.
  • It's honest about what it can't measure: Wi-Fi signal, router health, true packet loss, or speed in Mbps.
  • It doesn't fabricate samples to fill gaps, and it doesn't count browser throttling or device sleep as outages.
  • It's free, needs no account, and keeps your history only in your browser.

What it isn't

It's not a diagnostic for every network problem, not a speed test, and not a guarantee of all-day reliability from a 30-second snapshot. A single test reflects only the time you tested. Use it as one signal alongside your own experience.
